$JUMPBOX.ETH DAO Governance

Complete guide to participating in decentralized governance - from connecting your wallet to creating proposals and voting on ecosystem decisions.

Overview

The $JUMPBOX.ETH DAO is a decentralized autonomous organization that governs the Jumpbox ecosystem. Token holders can create proposals, vote on ecosystem changes, and collectively decide the future direction of the protocol.

Decentralized

All governance decisions are made on-chain through transparent voting by token holders.

Community-Driven

Every token holder has a voice. Your voting power scales with your token holdings.

Efficient

Built on Base for fast, low-cost transactions and seamless governance participation.

Getting Started

Prerequisites

  • • A web3 wallet (MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, etc.)
  • • JUMPBOX tokens (buy on Uniswap or other DEXs)
  • • Small amount of ETH on Base for gas fees
1

Connect Your Wallet

Visit the DAO page and click "Connect Wallet" to link your web3 wallet.

2

Delegate Your Voting Power

Before you can vote, you must delegate your tokens. Most users delegate to themselves to keep their voting power.

3

Start Voting

Browse active proposals and cast your votes to help shape the future of the Jumpbox ecosystem.

Step 1: Connect Your Wallet

The first step to participating in governance is connecting your web3 wallet to the DAO interface.

Instructions:

  1. 1.Navigate to https://jumpbox.tech/dao
  2. 2.Click the "Connect Wallet" button in the top right corner
  3. 3.Select your preferred wallet from the list (MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, WalletConnect, etc.)
  4. 4.Approve the connection request in your wallet
  5. 5.Ensure you're connected to the Base network

Important

Make sure you're on the Base network. If you're on a different network, switch to Base in your wallet settings.

Step 2: Delegate Your Voting Power

Delegation is a required step before you can vote. This is a one-time setup required by the OpenZeppelin Governor contract. You can delegate to yourself (most common) or to another address.

Why Delegation is Required

The OpenZeppelin Governor contract uses a snapshot-based voting system. Delegation activates your voting power by creating a checkpoint in the contract. Without delegation, your tokens cannot be counted as votes.

Self-Delegation (Recommended)

Most users delegate to themselves to keep their voting power. This gives you full control over how your tokens are used in governance.

  1. 1. Go to the "My Voting Power" tab
  2. 2. Click "Self-Delegate" button
  3. 3. Approve the transaction in your wallet
  4. 4. Wait for confirmation (usually 2-5 seconds on Base)

Delegate to Another Address

You can delegate your voting power to another wallet address if you trust someone else to vote on your behalf.

  1. 1. Go to the "My Voting Power" tab
  2. 2. Enter the delegate's wallet address
  3. 3. Click "Delegate" button
  4. 4. Approve the transaction in your wallet

After Delegation

  • Your voting power will be active for all future proposals
  • You can change your delegation at any time by delegating again
  • Voting power is calculated at the time each proposal is created
  • Staked tokens on Rebase.finance maintain voting rights

Step 3: Vote on Proposals

Once you've delegated your tokens, you can vote on any active proposal. Each vote carries weight equal to your token balance at the time the proposal was created.

How to Vote:

  1. 1.Navigate to the "Proposals" tab on the DAO page
  2. 2.Browse proposals and look for those in "Active" status (indicated by a blue badge)
  3. 3.Click on a proposal to expand and read the full details
  4. 4.Choose your vote: For (support), Against (oppose), or Abstain (neutral)
  5. 5.Click the corresponding button and approve the transaction in your wallet
  6. 6.Wait for confirmation - your vote has been recorded on-chain

For

Vote "For" to support the proposal and approve its implementation.

Against

Vote "Against" to oppose the proposal and prevent its implementation.

Abstain

Vote "Abstain" to be counted toward quorum without supporting or opposing.

Important Voting Rules

  • • You can only vote once per proposal
  • • You cannot change your vote after submitting
  • • Voting power is determined by your balance when the proposal was created
  • • You can only vote on proposals in "Active", "Passing", or "Failing" status
  • • Gas fees apply to each vote transaction

Creating Proposals

Any token holder with at least 10 million JUMPBOX tokens can create a governance proposal. Proposals should be well-thought-out and benefit the entire ecosystem.

Requirements

  • • Minimum 10 million JUMPBOX tokens required
  • • Must have delegated your tokens (to yourself or another address)
  • • Connected to Base network
  • • Sufficient ETH for gas fees

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. 1.

    Navigate to Create Proposal

Go to the DAO page and click on the "Create Proposal" tab

  2. 2.

    Write a Clear Title

Create a descriptive title that summarizes your proposal (e.g., "Integrate with Chainlink Price Feeds")

  3. 3.

    Provide Detailed Description

Explain what you're proposing, why it's beneficial, implementation details, timeline, and expected outcomes (max 2000 characters)

  4. 4.

    Review Timeline

Check the proposal timeline: 2 hour voting delay + 7 day voting period

  5. 5.

    Submit Proposal

Click "Create Proposal" and approve the transaction in your wallet

  6. 6.

    Wait for Confirmation

After confirmation, your proposal enters the "Pending" state for 2 hours before voting begins

What Makes a Good Proposal:

Do Include:

  • • Clear problem statement
  • • Specific solution
  • • Implementation timeline
  • • Expected outcomes/benefits
  • • Budget or resource requirements
  • • Success metrics

Avoid:

  • • Vague or unclear objectives
  • • Personal attacks
  • • Unrealistic timelines
  • • Proposals that harm the ecosystem
  • • Spam or duplicate proposals
  • • All-caps or excessive formatting

Canceling Proposals

As the proposer, you can cancel your proposal while it's in "Pending" or "Active" status. Once voting ends or the proposal is executed, it cannot be canceled.

Proposal States Explained

Each proposal goes through different states during its lifecycle. Understanding these states helps you know when you can vote and what each badge means.

Pending
Cannot Vote

Proposal is in the voting delay period. Voting has not started yet.

2 hours after creation
Active
Can Vote

Voting is currently open. Token holders can cast their votes.

Passing
Can Vote

FOR votes have reached quorum and are winning. Still accepting votes.

Failing
Can Vote

AGAINST votes have reached quorum. Still accepting votes.

During active voting period

Troubleshooting

"I can't vote on proposals"

This is the most common issue. Check the following:

  • 1.Have you delegated your tokens? You must delegate before voting. Go to "My Voting Power" and click "Self-Delegate".
  • 2.Is the proposal Active? You can only vote on proposals with "Active", "Passing", or "Failing" status.
  • 3.Did you hold tokens when the proposal was created? Voting power is calculated at proposal creation time.
  • 4.Are you on Base network? Switch to Base in your wallet.

"My voting power shows as 0"

Possible causes:

  • • You haven't delegated your tokens yet
  • • You acquired tokens after the proposal was created
  • • Your tokens are in a different wallet
  • • The blockchain data hasn't updated (wait a few blocks and refresh)

"Transaction failed"

Common transaction failures:

  • • Insufficient ETH for gas fees (get more ETH on Base)
  • • Wrong network selected (switch to Base)
  • • Proposal state changed while you were voting
  • • Network congestion (try increasing gas limit)

"I can't create a proposal"

Requirements check:

  • • Do you have at least 10M JUMPBOX tokens?
  • • Have you delegated your tokens?
  • • Is your wallet connected to Base network?
  • • Do you have enough ETH for gas fees?
